What A Day!

Tree climbing4, originally uploaded by Minas Morgul.

Dear Tomha,
Finally, I went for tree climbing today. It was so exciting, although rather tiring. I sweated like I had just finish my marathon last year yet only doing only 5 climbs! Haha, this tree climbing is not like those I used to do on Mango trees for purpose of of course, to pluck the ripened mangoes down for consumption. This one is more technical and thus allows you to go higher than an average mango tree! The tree in the photo is about 4 stories high and boy do I feel so satisfied, gratified, whatever-fied, after the climb. The view is so unreal! We were climbing somewhere behind Alexandra Hospital and the natural scenic view is magnificent there and I never knew. I saw a kingfisher perched on the tree beside the tree I climbed and when would you be able to look at birds perching on a tree top? Man do I feel so happy. There are more photos in my flickr account and that little white speck in this photo is me all right.. I was the only one wearing white..

The technicalities of tree climbing sounds almost similar to rock climbing except that rock climbing only employs the rope for safety purposes while in tree climbing, the rope is your tool to get up as well! A blake hitch is used to get you up while there is a little loop which you used to step up fully, push the blake hitch up, then pull the loop up, then step up, push the hitch, pull the loop and the viscous cycle continue! Quite cool huh?

What a wonderful Vesak Day this day had become. Instead of letting go of animals back into the wild, I had embraced nature in its most untouched state. A tree is afterall, a community of living things!
